Scheduling with Synchronized Start of Successive Operations

Successive Operation Synchronization (SOS) enables consecutive operations to start simultaneously rather than following traditional sequential logic, aiming to minimize total lead time and shorten delivery dates within the production process.

  • Simultaneous Start: Successive operations that normally wait for each other to finish can be started simultaneously (synchronously) on different machines thanks to this feature.
  • Zero Wait Time: As soon as the first parts begin processing on the first machine, subsequent machines are activated; thus, queues and waiting times between operations are eliminated.
  • Parallel Line Flow: All steps in the work order are moved into a parallel flow based on resource availability, allowing the production line to operate as a single block and optimizing total lead time to the maximum level.
